Investors in People Gold award for CCP
“CCP is truly an inclusive culture of energised passion through collaborative team working.  This is something that is rarely seen in organisations today and something which CCP should be very proud of.” (Jeanette Howells, IIP)
CCP has some great news to share.  Investors in People visited our organisation a few weeks ago to test us against the new assessment process, which is far more rigorous than ever before.  They now have the latest version framework - the ‘Sixth Generation’ Standard, which has evolved to keep up with modern practices, reflecting the latest workplace trends and leading practices.
We are delighted to announce that we have achieved the Investors in People Standard at GOLD level, placing us within the top 2% of employers nationally.

Jeanette Howells, the Investors in People Assessment Practitioner, said: “CCP have held Investors in People accreditation continuously since 1998, becoming the first voluntary organisation in Cheltenham to be accredited. They achieved Gold award level against the previous Investors in People Framework in 2014 and have continued to progress and embed good people strategies since then. CCP is an example of a charity which has endeavoured, through strong leadership and people commitment, to embrace the very essence of the values by which they operate. ‘Transforming lives of vulnerable children and adults’ is the ethos which drives through ambition and action. It is this ‘value’ which sits at the very heart of the organisation and from which everyone is empowered to deliver the results. This is a magnificent achievement and well deserved.”

Hamper Scamper looking for a home for Christmas
Urgent!  Hamper Scamper urgently needs to find a temporary home during December to run the appeal successfully.  We are looking for either a warehouse or empty open plan office of between 4-7,000 sq ft.  The facility will need running water and functioning toilets.  We will happily pay the rates, but cannot afford to spend money on rent.  Any organisation which supports Hamper Scamper will feature in our marketing materials.
Last year, Cheltenham's Regent Arcade provided Hamper Scamper with retail space to collect, sort, wrap and distribute 1,148 food parcels for families and vulnerable adults living in poverty and  2,500 gifts for disadvantaged children and young people.
This Christmas, we anticipate we will need to distribute more hampers and more gifts to some of the county's most disadvantaged children, families and vulnerable adults in time for Christmas, so once again we will need warehouse space or open office space.
If you can help provide a temporary home for Hamper Scamper this Christmas, please ring 0300 365 8999 ext 123 or email
Can you lend us a space like this? Get in touch!
Team Sevenoaks put their trainers on!
'Team Sevenoaks' put their trainers on to raise awareness of issues relating to youth homelessness and raise funds in suppport of CCP’s Bournemouth Foyer Supported Accommodation provision at the Bournemouth Marathon Festival earlier this month.  Events catered for all abilities and ages, ranging from a Junior 2k to a Marathon.  Cordell, Gareth and Ryan travelled down to Bournemouth from Cheltenham to run the Supersonic 10k, while 6 Bournemouth based staff and residents ran the Supernova 5k.
Jimmy Taylor, aged 17, has been living in the hostel since he was made homeless due to family issues. Jimmy said: “CCP helped me pursue my ambitions in education, with employment applications, and supported me with independent living skills – which I’m keen to utilize for the future.
Here at Sevenoaks, I have felt socially comfortable and as such gained confidence in a team. I believe it has enabled me to be a good team member and a potential team leader. CCP have shaped me into a mature and determined enthusiastic individual.”
The Supernova 5k starts at dusk and the beautiful coastal route allows runners the rare opportunity to run along the iconic Bournemouth Pier, which is lit up at dusk to create a beautiful spectacle for participants and spectators alike!
Commenting on his participation in the Supernova 5k, Jimmy continued: “Success is the prize of a greater challenge. This was life changing. It made me more driven, more motivated. I wanted to have a sense of achievement, something to look back on. I wanted to challenge my physical and mental capabilities, Yes, I would do it again but better.  10K next time!”

Community Wellbeing Service makes a real difference
A good news story from our Community Wellbeing team ...
A vulnerable client with learning difficulties was referred to the Community Wellbeing Service (formerly the Community Connector Service) by her GP to help improve her mental health and wellbeing and her housing and living environment.  A home visit quickly identified that the client was in need of assistance to help de-clutter and replace broken furniture.  To complicate the matter the client did not have the financial means to resolve the matter.  Amy Boon, a student on placement with the Community Wellbeing team, took up the challenge and organised a small team of volunteers from CCP (with the client’s approval) to help the client de-clutter to create more space.  Amy also successfully obtained a grant from The Barnwood Trust to purchase a new wardrobe and chest of drawers.  The old wardrobe and chest of drawers which had collapsed on to the floor were removed and taken to the recycling centre.
Elaine Meyer (pictured), David Kelly from the Community Wellbeing team, along with Bob ‘The Builder’ Drew (pictured) who volunteered his services to help, were despatched to build the new wardrobe and chest of drawers.
Community Wellbeing Service  Project Manager, Steve Long, said: "I would like to personally thank all the volunteers who gave up their time and the Community Wellbeing team for making a ‘real difference’ to help improve the living environment and wellbeing of this lovely lady."
A really positive outcome and a job well done!
