CCP awarded £498k from the Big Lottery Fund to deliver Family & Parenting Support in Gloucestershire
CCP has been awarded over £498,000 to run a three year Family and Parenting Support project in Gloucestershire.  The project aims to work with around 200 families and will work alongside the county’s Early Help and social work provision.
The project will focus on families in which a lack of parenting skills and confidence has contributed to behavioural issues in children and teenagers, poor relationships within the family, poor mental health affecting parents and children, and chaotic family lifestyles.
The project, led by a team of family support specialists, will provide parenting training which starts in the privacy of the family home. This will be combined with hands-on practical family support that sees volunteer family mentors working alongside the parents to put skills into practice.
CCP brings many years’ experience of supporting vulnerable families to this project, having delivered projects within St Pauls in Cheltenham and working alongside Gloucestershire County Council’s social work team to deliver the Families First programme in the county.
Ramona Ray, CCP Family Services Manager said: 'We’re delighted that the Big Lottery Fund has recognised the need for improving the level of family and parenting support available within Gloucestershire. We have consulted widely with parents and it is obvious that a lack of family and parenting support is an issue which is contributing to family breakdown, family stress and poor mental health in parents and children.  Over the next three years, this project will teach valuable parenting skills and provide practical support to those who need it most.'
Volunteers will play in important role in the delivery of the project and over the coming months, CCP will be recruiting volunteers across the whole county. Full training and support will be given, so if you would like to help CCP to make a positive change to the lives of children and families in Gloucestershire, please get in contact by email to volunteering@ccprojects.org.uk or call CCP on 01242 228999.
An 'eggnormous' 3,991 Easter eggs donated!
A huge thank you to all the fantastically generous businesses and individuals who donated Easter eggs to this year's Easter Egg Appeal.  In total, we collected an 'eggnormous' 3,991 Easter eggs.  Donations included an 'eggtraordinary' 1,461 eggs from EDF Energy, 552 eggs from Endsleigh, and 192 eggs from Alpha Colour
All of the eggs have been passed on by CCP to disadvantaged children and families, young homeless people and vulnerable adults in Gloucestershire.  And because of your generosity we were able to pass on Easter eggs to the clients of more than 45 other Gloucestershire based organisations including Young Gloucestershire ViParentsThe Butterfly Garden, and Increase the Peace.
So many Easter egg hunts wouldn't have taken place if it wasn't for the generosity of everyone involved in the Appeal, so thank you all!

The GB Solutions Cheltenham Challenge
GB Solutions, a recruitment consultancy with 5 divisions specialising in Office, Finance, Marketing, Technology and Sales will be headline sponsor at this year’s event to be held on Sunday 18th June.  Paul Blower, Co-owner and Company Director of GB Solutions, has actively taken part in Cheltenham Challenge multi-terrain running event held each June at Cheltenham Race Course.
“For the past couple of years GB Solutions has been involved with the Cheltenham Challenge; I have run the marathon and ultra-marathon to raise money for Sue Ryder and my team have hosted a water station,” says Paul Blower. “Now our involvement has strengthened with our sponsorship of the whole event. I am immensely proud of my company’s involvement in the Cheltenham Challenge and we are delighted to be supporting CCP in the work they do.  Not only am I personally passionate about running but having seen the work that this charity does around Gloucestershire and beyond, we are delighted to have had the opportunity to become more involved in this event.
As a company we have been considering participating in corporate sponsorship and we felt that there are links between the work we do with that of CCP – we are both involved in getting young people into work and giving them opportunities for the future. I am incredibly proud to have GB Solutions’ name linked with the Cheltenham Challenge. For the first time, I will not be running but instead will be helping my team at the GB Solutions water station. We are also hoping that some of the team members will take part in one of the running events.”
Dave Jones, Race Director and Deputy CEO of CCP adds: “We are delighted to have GB Solutions as our headline sponsor this year. Having local companies linked with this event is crucial. Not only with sponsorship but also with hosting water stations and marshalling the route. We are still in need of volunteers to help on Father’s Day, Sunday 18th June, so if anyone would like to offer their time, please contact me via CheltChallenge@ccprojects.org.uk.”

Heartening feedback from Martha
We recently received some really heartening feedback from Martha who is currently living in CCP Foyer which offers supported accommodation with life skills training for young homeless people.
‘I moved in in December 2016 as I was having some problems at home.  I'm going to start volunteering at a café in St Pauls which was facilitated with the help of CCP in the next couple of weeks and I have secured a college place starting in September.  I’m also hoping to go to university next year to study Forensic Psychology.  I’ve found living in Foyer very helpful and welcoming, staff have supported me and helped me gain the independence to move on.  I have also applied to volunteer with CCP as I would like to give something back.'

Disadvantaged children and families, young homeless people and vulnerable adults benefitted from the launch of a recent cybercrime offensive at a Get Connected business networking event at the Manor by the Lake in Cheltenham.
£130 was raised for CCP at the event when one of the club's Cyber Citizens, a two dimensional robot figure was auctioned, with the money going towards our Easter Egg Appeal to buy Easter eggs that brought a smile to the faces of those who received them.
